IHL buys Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre for £18M

International Hotel Properties Ltd (IHL) has acquired the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre for £17.725M. The Grade B listed building has 161 bedrooms and planning consent for a 25-bed extension to the rear of the property.

The hotel was sold by JLL on behalf of FRP Advisory, administrators to European Development Company, whose other hotel interests prior to being placed in administration included two Holiday Inns and a Holiday Inn Express in Aberdeen.

The acquisition is IHL's ninth acquisition since August 2015 and takes its UK branded budget portfolio to 9 hotels - four Travelodge, four Holiday Inn Express and a Hampton by Hilton - with 1,135 bedrooms.

Redefine|BDL Hotels, which already manages four of IHL's hotels, has been appointed to manage the Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City Centre, taking its portfolio of managed UK hotels to 43.
